Over 50 Inches of Rain
Houstonian, Mrs. Doris Davis had dealt with the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. Unfortunately, the category 4 hurricane brought over 50 inches of rain to the lone star state in late August 2017. Davis at 81-years-old did not have the energy to do things on her own. She would likely have to pay top dollar to hire contractors. Mrs. Davis with no great options to choose between. Staying home as the flood waters began to rise Davis told KHOU,
“I don’t know if I was so frightened, from all this (flooding) going on, I really could not move.”
However, things were about to change for the better for Mrs. Davis.
Fixer Upper Harvey Edition
Chip and Joanna Gaines, who is most famous for their show “Fixer Upper” on HGTV. Decided to spring into action in the aftermath of hurricane Harvey. In fact, they arrived at Mrs. Davis’s house on a Sunday and immediately got to work planning and scheduling for her restoration project. Fortunately, the Gaines sympathized and understood the devastation that Mrs. Davis went through during the flooding.
Chip and Joanna Gaines along with their team worked quickly and effectively. They explained to Mrs. Davis it would take about 4 weeks considering the damage. Their dedication helped Mrs. Davis in one of the most difficult times of her life. Mrs. Davis was completely shocked and overwhelmed with joy and thanksgiving, she told KHOU,
“Honey, it’s like an explosion that you didn’t know about! I mean, I wasn’t expecting this, honey.”
